Artists such as Jamie Cullum  and James Artur are  very talented  British artists that aren't as heavily received here in the states. T's Top 5: Five reasons why I HATE the VMA's!

1) The hosts ...
Almost every year viewers have to sit through an uncomfortable monologue from cheesy, or overrated entertainers. We  just sit and watch them embarrass themselves and fumble to constantly grab our attentions, HENCE , MILEY CYRUS... 

2) The fashion
Celebs wear the most ridiculous outfits all the time, but for some reason when the VMA's comes around, let's just say they tend to do a little extra AND it doesn't always translate well to us viewers... Being unique my a**

3)The overly played radio music
Its already bad that we hear it 24/7 but most of the music that are played a lot on the radio aren't celebrated as much as the top 10 celebs that we constantly see, that the media just won't stop showing. Oh,  did I mention the most overrated talent-less celebs who has no reason for being famous, yeah, that can also get annoying...

4) KANYE WEST, 
or should I say Kanye PEST...
Who is more famous for being a jerk than actually his music these days. Honestly people why do you constantly celebrate the works of an egotistical jerk? He is invited to start problems for the views.Honestly MTV isn't for music lovers, it is a mockery to music, just saying...

WHO ARE THE STRUTS?

With their latest release, they have me actually remembering how much I once enjoyed Rock music.
 If you're not into the whole rock thing, don't worry its easy on the ears and is a great listen. It may come off as gross if you're not familiar with the whole rock star lifestyle at first but trust me, it will not disappoint. The lyrics aren't anything too deep but it made me realize how life is out there and  to not have regrets and fear failure. See, it actually has a message, who knew...

What a joke? Rapper 50 cent Files for Bankruptcy after  being drenched in debt!  He caused this upon himself owning one of the largest homes in America, his house holds  over 36 bathrooms or kitchens, and tennis court, movie theater , basketball court, you can name it all! This came to a surprise for many because the 40  year old rapper is a CEO, earns endorsement deals with vitamin water and selling music equipments. Its hard for him to keep up with his $172,000 a month rent and $5,000 gardening and other expenses. He's been trying to sell this Connecticut home for a while now and what  he first priced as 22 million, has now dropped to about 5 million because of lack of sales. Everyone is scared to buy this house because everyone who've previously  owned it, filed bankruptcy! It's been said that he owes his barber hundreds of dollars, his grandfather almost $2,000?? He  calls his decision to file bankruptcy his 'strategic business move' ...  What? Sources shows that he's been owing money left and right and he's trying so hard to not let go of his multimillion dollar image. The party goes on for the rapper because he's been living it up and still spending money in the strip clubs and buying first class tickets. He still manages to have a smile on his face despite the bankruptcy.  Celebs love spending unnecessarily because they feel that they have it all. Lesson of the day: Live a life that you can afford, and spend wisely. Always budget because you never know when you can lose it all!

Do I actually LIKE Alabama Shakes?!

Lead singer Brittany Howard,  of the band Alabama Shakes takes this whole garage rock/ blues genre to another level! I would have to be the first to say when I just heard of the band back in 2013 I was never really a huge fan, fast forward to today I think I might even want to see them live, maybe...  Like many other artists, I really got to see them in action at the 2013 Grammy's, and I was amazed by Brittany's powerful, and may I say the least raspy, RAW edge. I actually really like one of there latest releases Don't Wanna Fight. This song should get more attention only because it sounds better than their last major breakthrough hit, Hold On. The song Don't Wanna Fight, has an easier listen and the more you listen, the more it becomes normal to your ears if you're actually not a Blues or Rock fan. You can listen to it over and over and realize that this band is what this generation needs. I don't really get a chance to see a lot of great bands making heads turn lately and where everyone knows them, but I do feel like this band has a geed idea on what rock should sound like. Please do yourself a favor and get familiar with this band.

TYGA gets with a Transgender!?

TYGA, TYGA, TYGA! Tyga is denying the cheating rumors with a transgender model. After sending nude photos and them being leaked, Tyga's  legal team is frantically trying to put a stop to these rumors. Tyga claims that it is all a lie and the media is just trying to stir things up. BUT, as I recall, didn't the  last time when Tyga was accused of dating a minor he denied it on every interview? so who knows he might be lying about this too. The transgender's model's name is Mia Isabella and is being accused of leaking the naked photos of Tyga after getting upset with Tyga. Honestly this was bound to happen, girls stay away from this wannabe ...

If you're not a Justin Bieber fan, put that aside for a minute and please check out his latest release Where are U Now. I heard this song at an event at my college a while ago and couldn't help  but wonder who was it. I like how JB stayed low-key for a little while and people got a chance to somewhat miss his music.  His last album release was in 2013so it was only right that he put out something new. This is a great summer hit and all I can think about is the beach, festivals and funnel cake! I would be disappointed  if this song didn't get any bigger.

RIHANNA RELEASES new video

Rihanna released her VERY explicit video for Bitch Betta Have My Money. The video starts with Rihanna who Kidnaps her target's wife the accountant AND LITERALLY tortures her. It's Rihanna's most creative video in my opinion and her style is of course on point! The only thing that I wasn't really a fan of, was the fact that she kept forcing the weed thing in our faces, but I guess that adds a certain edge to her style and the idea of the whole video. She shows that she has that raw edge which sometimes is annoying to me, but I do respect that she's an island girl who really broke barriers in the music industry. She became this massive fashion icon who has surely gained the respect from many.I'm not the biggest Rihanna fan but I did really like the video because even though it was very explicit, it just shows her unique style and what people loves so much. No matter what Rihanna brings to the table, the world will now accept it. I don't think that the world will judge her choices, she can literally do whatever she wants.

Kanye Can't get over Kim's past!

While performing in Glastonbury, Kanye looked into the crowd and noticed a very explicit large banner waving in the air of Kim with Ray J from their sex tape. How EMBARRASSING!!?  Kanye is finding it harder to accept Kim's past. Like REALLY? I don't really see this marriage lasting too long... Divorce anyone? Eventually Kanye will get tired of being with her only because of her reckless past. Who knows he might put up with it just for the kids or to keep up the image.

2015 BET awards Highlights!

Though there were huge SMH moments at the BET awards this year, there were a few things I did Love/ Like.  I loved that tribute for Smokey Robinson . But the tribute for Janet Jackson took the cake! Jason Derulo, Ciara, and Tinashe all reminded us of how talented they really are when they danced to Janet's Rhythm  Nation. It was just simply amazing to see how they all came together and recreated something into magic, It was by far the best moment of the show. I know that everyone was talking about that hard fall that Diddy took!  That was Hilarious! Diddy fell and got right back up and I even noticed the audience in the front, two girls were trying to help him up. LOL He pulled a Beyonce move and got right back up and continued performing. I'm wondering how the other two rappers behind him kept it together, I can't believe they all kept a straight face.That was HONESTLY the highlight of the night for me.

2015 BET AWARDS TOP DISLIKE Moments!!

 The awards was filled with all the urban A-list celebs with a touch of ratchet as always. I have to say that the hosts Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross really did lighten the mood and the duo really seems to have natural chemistry. It seems like every year most of the top stars don't attend anymore such as Rihanna,  Jay Z, Kanye West, AND Beyonce.    SUPPORT BLACK ENTERTAINMENT! And of course when Rihanna was told that she couldn't throw money at the audience while debuting her trailor for her new music video for Bitch Betta Have My Money, she threw the money in the BET worker's face. Rihanna  got on  stage and made it known that she only attended because she wanted to just debut her video. OUCH! IN YOUR FACE BET! 

What a brat. Another moment that I disliked was when Nicki Minaj got to accept her final award of the night for her song Only, she got on stage and asked what award is she winning. That moment I realized that as many black artists become  mainstream, they forget where they came from and don't care to take the awards seriously. I thought to myself many of these artists would never dare to do or say these things at the GRAMMYs, or the Oscars, any award that has majority white people . They put away the obnoxious behavior and act humble and make it all about the music. That is why I never really favor mainstream  artists because many of them come off as full of themselves. That's why I typically focus on underground artists because they sometimes come off as humble.Though I love mainstream music, it can sometimes be a bit overwhelming with all the massive egos. K Michelle, K Michelle. All I saw was fake a**. IT WAS WAY TOO MUCH. There's no way it looks normal like seriously, tone it down. Her performance was over sexual and the moaning made me feel uncomfortable.

DJ GDWRKZ Releases GOLD!!

DJ/ Producer, an overall artist released Attic Sessions vol.1 on soundcloud earlier today. The whole piece is 28 minutes long and has this whole profound  vibe.  This  reminds me of a chill night when turning  up your good music really  loud so everyone can hear it. GDWRKZ keeps coming up with sounds to keep every kind of listener in tuned. His dynamic twist on sound is overall refreshing and reminds me why I love music. Overall he continues to produce quality sound. Attic Sessions vol 1. varies from Justin Timberlake to Lauryn Hill to Tove Lo, just to name a few and many unexpected artists. I REALLY enjoyed this piece to say the least. Do yourself a favor and check this out now! 

Pia Mia RELEASES do it again video!

If you aren't familiar with Pia Mia, you ought to get to know her because she is full of energy and most importantly her AMAZING vocals. This is something we don't usually see in today's pop music because we usually get a catchy hook and some  average voice. This young beauty surely has the talent and the spark to come with it. Tyga Gets a SHOW!

Ughh here we go...Yet another pointless reality Tv show, with a pointless rapper. Tyga just can't get enough and on July 24th, his new show Kingin' With Tyga will air on MTV2. I honestly would like to see the show only because of his relationships with Kylie Jenner and Baby Mother to his son King, Blacc Chyna. The whole lifestyle that he wants the public to view him as seems forced as if he rented the flashy cars and clothes just for an audience, No one really cared or knew about him before his relationship with Kylie Jenner or even Blacc Chyna, so his only way to stay relevant is to make a quick show on of course MTV2. Will you be tuning in on July 24th? I'll be watching and keep you posted.  

Was Troy Ave's Album a FLOP or Success you be the judge!

Rapper Troy Ave manages to only sell 5000 copies in the first week of his album release. It is understandable that he only sold this much because he is an INDEPENDENT ARTIST. Although no one is talking about this anymore, I find this interesting that he was the laughing stock of twitter two weeks ago. Everyone who did care enough to re tweet and mock the rapper, failed to realize that for an independent artist, his sales were actually  decent. This man pays for studio time, setting up concert tours, and tickets to fly himself out to these events to  promote his brand/ music.

Who Remembers Erik Hassle?!

  Erik Hassle has a way of making really dark catchy pop music that you want to replay over and over. His new song No Words, is definitely on my summer playlist. Give it a chance, after the first two listens it's guaranteed to stick.  An underrated  summer  hit in my opinion of course and its sure to put you in a good mood.

Beck Releases new single DREAMS!

Was Kanye right about Beck? Though Beck has been around for a while it seems like Kanye did him a huge favor bringing in a large amount of new fans just like how he did with Taylor Swift back in 2009 at the MTV VMA's.  Let's face it, Kanye basically helped boost these two artists career by mocking them. Beck won a Grammy for best album of the year in February for his folk rock inspired  album Morning Phase which was a new twist based on what original fans say. Now flash forward to this year, Beck is back to his old style Punk, with a dash of pop. Although I was never familiar with the artist before the Grammy's, I heard of his new release, Dreams and would have to say that it is refreshing. The track opens with heavy drums, tight guitar and has this upbeat melodic feel. Its a far cry from his album last year and this just proves that Beck can be a musician for almost every music lover. The track is disappointing to some of Beck's older fans because they feel that it is soulless and has a tainted indie feel that is trying to appeal to mainstream pop. Overall this track will draw in a lot more listeners and force them to become somewhat fans.

Artist to watch: Pryde

Brampton native Pryde is the next best thing. Drake watch out because Pryde is here to stay. Young, Talented and just overall different. His song Day One sounds like a classic summer smash. I would love for this artist to get the bust that he deserves here in the states. Super catchy and clean. We get to see the artist and a couple of his friends ride through the city and just have fun. Honestly check this artist out his whole approach and music is unique

    

Diddy to the Rescue!!

Sean "Puffy" Combs Gets Arrested  after confronting UCLA coach for his son Justin. 
It seems like Quarterback  Justin was just not having the best day,and having missed a few practices, it  led him to not perform well on the field. Coach wasn't having it and went ballistic on the record producer's son, this led to Diddy actually showing up at the Coach's office and confronted him while he was on the phone. The coach put his hand up at Diddy to signal wait, and that was the wrong move for Coach. Diddy started making threats while he was in the weight room.Witnesses and Cameras caught the dramatic scene while Diddy allegedly swung a weight kettle at the coach and now Diddy is being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and most recently added today making "terroristic"    threats. Father of the year or major embarrassment? Should Justin get kicked off the team for his full scholarship at UCLA? Justin later posted a picture of him and  his dad Diddy and showed no signs of regret or anger towards the issue.

Trigga RELOADED drops Today, will it flop?!!

Will Rapper Tyga and Chris Brown improve sales?! Its no surprise that Tyga has been  making resent headlines because of his relationship  with minor  Kylie Jenner and because of this, he now has a wider fan base. This skyrocket to fame may improve Trey's album sales and bring  in Tyga's fans because people will always want to see what he's doing next. Though Trey already has a wide fan base, he will still need an extra boost from both Chris Brown and Tyga. Chris Brown who has   been in the tabloids a lot lately because of his horrible break-up with ex- girlfriend Karrueche. Will this effect sales? we'll see.. When Trey was asked did Kylie Jenner attend his concert with Tyga, he kept his comments hush hush and just wanted to promote his album. Trey will be performing at the Essence Music Festival which will be his fifth year next week.

Banks' ALBUM Goddess raises the stakes!!

The Goddess herself, creates a sound like no other.  
            Some may say she is the female version of "The Weeknd", though she uses similar vocal skills as "The Weeknd" , Banks is highly dynamic and is what mainstream music is calling for. The artist did create major buzz in the year 2013 when the album was released music lovers truly respected the humble artist and now has a huge fan bass. Banks is influenced from past artists such as Fiona Apple so no wonder she creates such dominant, head turning, powerful sounds. The album starts with my favorite so far Alibi and This is what it feels like . Truthfully the whole album is genius and if you're unfamiliar, make it a big deal to get familiar  with her music.

My gift to you: Personal Introduction

Here is the big obvious, I love  music that's why I personally took the time to create a whole blog about it. Music is what keeps me guessing what the future has to offer, it influences style and is a major part of culture. Whether you're into Indie, Rap, Soul or pop, I guarantee it will always be apart of all our conversations. As for me, I fell in love with music around the age of 14. I was experimenting when it came to just listening to EVERYTHING. I found that it was refreshing and stimulating to get away from the norm. I would typically listen to whatever was on the radio at the moment and what seemed to be "hot" ideally back then. But as my ears grew and blossomed, I realized that I did not listen to the typical and what many young people seemed to enjoy and I felt that was what molded me into the young woman who I am today..  I began to study music more on a deeper level to the point where I felt the need to personally recommend a list of songs for other people. Along with recommending the songs, I would give reviews on the sounds, the lyrics and the artist's background or the direction that I felt they wanted to go with that particular sound. So my goal is to review music, style and culture and recommend sounds that I believe should not be overlooked. I will even go to the underground clubs, lounges or outdoor concerts that cater to the sound I feel are worth giving a try.
